THE HANOI TIMES — The China–Vietnam friendship has long been a solid pillar to strengthen bilateral relations effectively.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei shared this view at the 13th Vietnam–China People’s Forum, co-organized in Hanoi today [November 24] by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
In his opening remarks, Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, highlighted that the Vietnam–China People’s Forum is an important platform for people-to-people exchanges that promote cooperation between the two countries.
“The forum helps strengthen mutual understanding and political trust while building a strong social foundation between the two nations and their peoples,” said Son.
This year's forum takes place as both countries mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and carry out a series of political and diplomatic events following recent high-level visits by leaders of the two Parties and the two States.
Son noted that the world is experiencing profound and historic changes.
“In this context, the friendship between Vietnam and China plays a vital role in promoting ties between the peoples of both countries and contributes to peace and stability in the region and beyond,” he continued.

Son said both sides should continue holding forums, dialogues and other exchange activities like the Vietnam–China People’s Forum through people-to-people channels and other mechanisms to strengthen political trust and reinforce the foundation of bilateral relations.
Son expressed confidence that the 13th Vietnam–China People’s Forum will attract strong interest and many valuable contributions from experts and scholars of both countries, helping advance mutually beneficial cooperation and support the development of Vietnam–China relations in the new period.

According to the ambassador, China and Vietnam have each achieved significant progress in national development, which he said reflects the strengths of their socialist systems.
He stressed that the China–Vietnam friendship remains a solid pillar that enables bilateral relations to grow in a deeper, more effective and more substantive manner.

The forum also offers an opportunity to reflect on the long-standing tradition of goodwill between the two nations and encourages younger generations to deepen their understanding and contribute to nurturing the growing China–Vietnam “tree of friendship.”
Highlighting the role of the Vietnam–China People’s Forum over the years, Sun Xueqing, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said that despite global uncertainties, the forum has served as a steadfast bridge connecting the peoples of both countries while fostering trust and generating broad consensus.
He noted that this year's forum should continue to create more opportunities for young people from both countries to engage in exchanges and cooperation, which will help strengthen and expand the friendship and advance shared values for the benefit of both peoples.
The 13th Vietnam–China People’s Forum takes place from November 23 to 27 with several activities in Hanoi and Quang Ninh Province. The 12th forum was held in 2024 in Xiangtan, Hunan Province, China.
