Hanoi to hold hearing on park and public space development
The move will outline solutions and a detailed roadmap to tackle challenges and enhance management.
THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi People’s Council will hold a hearing to review the management, renovation, and construction of parks and public gardens throughout the capital city.

The session will assess the progress made thus far, pinpoint remaining shortcomings, and allocate responsibility to the appropriate departments, agencies, and organizations.
The hearing will discuss planning, investment, rehabilitation, and construction of parks and gardens, as well as the execution of orders from national and local authorities.
Officials will report on their achievements and obstacles, identify the causes and responsible parties for delays, and propose solutions to accelerate public investment projects.
Key discussion topics will include reviewing the list of existing and planned parks and gardens, updating urban planning documents, eliminating policy bottlenecks, and streamlining land clearance, handover, and investment procedures.
As of late March, nine parks in the city, including Ngoc Thuy Park, Long Bien Park, and Lam Ha Park in the Long Bien District, had been completed or were nearing completion.
In addition, the city has opened several new parks, including the Astronomy Park and Music Park in Ha Dong District and the Me Tri Park and Phung Khoang Park in Nam Tu Liem District, along with 55 new public gardens and pocket parks, such as Le Truc, Van Xuan, Hoang Dieu, Phan Dinh Phung, and Truc Bach Gardens.
The local government encourages developers to accelerate work on major projects, including Chu Van An Park, West Nam Urban Area Reservoir Park, and Ha Dong Park
The municipal People’s Council has already approved investment policies for major renovation projects at Thong Nhat, Bach Thao, and Thu Le parks.
Developers are working to finalize project proposals and secure approvals for implementation.
The Hanoi Department of Construction will urge district-level authorities to expedite the completion of 182 planned park and garden projects in 2025 among which are three gardens in Ba Dinh District, one in Hai Ba Trung District, two in Tay Ho District, two in Nam Tu Liem District, and one park and three gardens in Long Bien District.
In the suburban districts, Dan Phuong is planning 29 gardens, Hoai Duc 33, and Dong Anh one park and 107 gardens.
Many parks across the city, including Thong Nhat, Cau Giay, and Nghia Do, are undergoing renovations that include lowering or removing perimeter fences to make the spaces more open and accessible to the public.
