Hanoi welcomes Chinese firm to infrastructure development
Hanoi is seeking more foreign investment to develop its urban infrastructure, including metro lines.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi welcomes Chinese firms to invest in urban railway projects, said Duong Duc Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, on July 14.
During a meeting with a delegation from China Construction Fifth Division South China Company (CSCEC 5th Division South China), Tuan announced Hanoi's plans to build over 600 km of urban rail lines to surrounding provinces and cities.

“We want large corporations from around the world to assist us in building urban railways and other infrastructure,” he said.
Tuan welcomed the Chinese firm to establish a representative office in Vietnam.
He praised the South China Company’s ideas for developing satellite cities in Son Tay Ward and Phu Xuyen Commune, saying they align with Hanoi’s needs.
"Along with developing satellite urban areas, we will invest in transportation infrastructure to connect them," he noted.
Tuan invited the company to study and propose integrated development solutions for these areas.
“Hanoi will connect the South China Company with local enterprises to ensure that the projects are carried out properly and legally.”
In turn, the company’s Deputy General Director, Liu Honghe, praised the city’s rapid infrastructure growth.
He expressed the company’s commitment to contributing to the city’s development, thereby strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations.
Since the company has been present in Vietnam for six years, the deputy general director expressed interest in acting as a contractor and investor, partnering with Vietnamese firms to develop Hanoi’s urban infrastructure.
He said the Chinese company is committed to aligning with the laws and regulations of the central and Hanoi governments and meeting project schedules.
CSCEC 5th Division South China Company is currently one of China’s leading urban development firms, particularly in metro rail projects.
