Over 150,000 firms join Vietnam’s market in H1

Resolution 68 has strengthened Vietnam's business and investment environment, paving the way for robust growth in new and returning enterprises during the first half of 2025.

THE HANOI TIMES — As many as 152,700 businesses ventured into the Vietnamese economy in the first half of the year, marking an inter-annual increase of 26.5%.

Of those businesses, 91,200 were newly registered enterprises, which had a combined registered capital of VND821 trillion (US$31.3 billion) and employed around 591,000 people, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

These figures reflect increases of 12%, 10%, and 14%, respectively.

Between January and June, over 61,500 companies resumed operations after suspension, marking a 57.2% increase from the same period in 2024.

The General Statistics Office also reported that 36% of companies evaluated the business environment more positively in the second quarter of 2025 than in the first.

Business conditions remained stable for 43% of the companies, while 21% experienced challenges in the second quarter.

Meanhile, 37% of companies forecast that the business environment will improve in the third quarter of 2025, while 43% forecasted that the economy will be stable in the third quarter.

The GSO attributed the rising figures to the resilience of the economy and the effectiveness of government policies in supporting economic activity.
