Vietnam breaks ground on 60,000-seat World Cup-standard stadium in Hung Yen

Vietnam is set to welcome its largest and most modern stadium, the 60,000-seat PVF Multipurpose Stadium in the northern province of Hung Yen, built to meet FIFA World Cup standards and host major sports and entertainment events.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam has begun construction on its largest-ever stadium, the 60,000-seat PVF Multipurpose Stadium in the northern province of Hung Yen, designed to meet FIFA World Cup standards and become a national hub for sports and culture.

Covering 55,000 square meters, the new facility will surpass the 40,000-seat My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi to become the largest in Vietnam.

Party General Secretary To Lam (sixth from left) joins leaders of the Party, the State, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, Hung Yen Province, and representatives of the general contractor to press the button launching the construction of the PVF Stadium on October 19. Located in a prime gateway area with excellent transport links, the PVF Stadium is part of a 920,000-square-meter sports and service complex, which includes a 180,000-square-meter parking area.

Inspired by the AT&T Stadium in the United States and the Singapore National Stadium, the design features four grandstands and dedicated zones for technical operations, security, broadcasting, media, players, VIPs and dining.

The PVF Stadium will introduce three major innovations never before seen in Vietnam.

Its fully retractable roof can open or close automatically within 12 to 20 minutes, similar to the world’s largest at AT&T Stadium in the US.

The playing surface uses modular hybrid grass technology, similar to the Wembley Stadium in the UK and the Singapore National Stadium, combining natural and synthetic turf for higher durability, faster drainage and easier maintenance.

A premium VIP area will enhance the spectator experience with panoramic views, fine dining services and private access designed for comfort and exclusivity.

The facility will serve as a new hub for sports, culture and tourism on both national and regional levels. It meets international standards for major global events such as the Olympic Games, the Asian Games (ASIAD) and the World Cup.

The Ministry of Public Security invests in the project, with Vinhomes JSC as the general contractor.

Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang said the PVF Stadium project reflects the strategic vision of the Party, the State and General Secretary To Lam in developing well-rounded human capacity and building a strong nation.

The facility represents an important cultural and sports infrastructure project that demonstrates the ministry’s vision for sustainable and comprehensive sports development, he told the groundbreaking ceremony on October 19.

Minister Quang said that the stadium will become a multifunctional complex with a main competition field, training areas, rehabilitation center, service and entertainment zones and public sports amenities.

The facility would create a healthy environment for all ages and serve as a venue for top-level sports competitions, he said.

The minister added that it would encourage public participation in physical activities, promoting the national movement “All people exercise following the example of President Ho Chi Minh” as a daily lifestyle.

Vinhomes Chairman Pham Thieu Hoa pledged to implement the project with the highest discipline, responsibility and quality at every stage of construction, along with sustainability, environmental protection, landscape preservation and absolute safety for workers throughout the project.
