Helicopters reach isolated flood-hit areas with emergency supplies

The Ministry of Defence sent two helicopters on 24 July to deliver emergency aid to flood-affected areas in western Nghe An Province. Dozens of tons of essential supplies were airlifted to hundreds of households inaccessible due to prolonged rainfall and landslides, which have also disrupted National Highway 7A, the main route connecting the area to the provincial center.

Vietnam ranks among top 10 at 2025 International Physics Olympiad

Vietnam’s national team won five medals, including one gold and four silvers, at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), according to the Ministry of Education and Training. This result placed Vietnam among the top 10 countries with the best performance at the competition. Nguyen The Quan, a 12th-grade student at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An Province, won the gold medal.

Vietnam remains third-largest rice exporter to Singapore

Singapore imported almost SG$61 million (US$48 million) worth of rice from Vietnam during the first half of 2025, marking a 17% year-on-year increase. Vietnam remained the third-largest exporter of rice to Singapore, holding a 24.5% market share. The average export price of Vietnamese rice during this period was estimated at US$517.5 per tonne, down 18.4% compared to the same period last year.

Vietnam to send 970 athletes to 33rd SEA Games

A total of 970 Vietnamese participants will take part in the 33rd SEA Games, which will be held in Thailand from December 9 to 31. The delegation includes 158 athletes competing in 30 sports, and hopes to win medals in football, swimming, wrestling, taekwondo, karate, and weightlifting.

Unqualified public employees may be suspended

In a recent decision (No. 727/QD-BNV) issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil servants may be temporarily suspended from their positions if they violate moral standards or lead lifestyles that cause public outrage, negatively affect public opinion or damage the reputation of organizations or individuals. Suspension may also be imposed for harassment, corruption, or causing trouble for citizens, businesses, agencies, or organizations while carrying out public service duties.

Vinhomes to launch $10 billion mega-project in Khanh Hoa

A consortium led by the property developer Vinhomes will begin construction on Zone 1 of the new Cam Lam urban area in Khanh Hoa Province in the first quarter of 2026. The area covers more than 2,000 hectares. The entire urban area spans nearly 10,400 hectares and has received a total investment of approximately VND260.3 trillion (US$10 billion), including VND25 trillion (US$956 million) for resettlement support
