Vietnam helps Laos build drug treatment and rehabilitation center 


Work on a drug treatment and rehabilitation center in Vientiane, Laos began on July 12 with support from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.

Once operational, it will be able to provide treatment and rehabilitation services for 500 patients and work conditions for 70 employees.

Vietnamese, Italian leather and footwear businesses strengthen cooperation

A series of events were held in Ho Chi Minh City from July 10 to 12 to strengthen trade exchanges between Vietnamese and Italian leather and footwear companies.

The events aim to help Italian firms introduce more technologies to Vietnam, especially those that meet the demanding requirements of the environment and sustainable development.

More Vietnamese fresh farm produce to be exported to Singapore 

A working delegation from Singapore visited farms in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on July 12 to look for growers and businesses with the capacity to produce, manage, and export safe agricultural products.

The visit is expected to create opportunities for local fresh agricultural products to enter the demanding Singaporean market. In the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam became the largest exporter of rice to Singapore for the first time and the 5th largest exporter of aquatic products to the country.

Vietnam to send 39-member delegation to Paris 2024 Olympic Games

A 39-member Vietnamese sports delegation will take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The delegation includes 32 athletes, coaches, and specialists in cycling, shooting, archery, judo, and more. Most of the athletes are training abroad and will arrive in Paris on July 20. A farewell ceremony will be held in Hanoi on July 17.

Hanoi’s district opens OCOP product center to boost tourism and economy

The People's Committee of Tay Ho District in Hanoi inaugurated the "OCOP Center" at 2 Trinh Cong Son Street on July 12. The center, part of the Hanoi Lotus Festival, showcases high-quality OCOP products and demonstrates the combination of tourism and economic development. It offers local specialties and cultural activities, such as regular music events, expected to promote local tourism and sustainable economic growth.

A 2,000-year-old ancient salt-making field discovered in Quang Ngai

A 2,000-year-old salt-making field of the ancient Sa Huynh people has been discovered in the central province of Quang Ngai.

The province's General Museum said the discovery will be an important addition to dossiers seeking UNESCO certification of the Sa Huynh civilization archaeological site, which covers an area of about 10 hectares.

 

Vietnam's Phu Quoc ranks world second-most beautiful island

 

Vietnam's biggest island Phu Quoc has been named the second most beautiful island in the world after the Maldives by Travel+Leisure magazine. The ranking is based on a survey of more than 186,000 readers, taking into account natural attractions, activities, food, friendliness, and overall value. Phu Quoc, known for its pristine and tranquil beaches, is the only Vietnamese representative on the list. In the first half of 2024, the island welcomed 3.3 million visitors, including nearly 500,000 international tourists, generating VND11.2 trillion (US$477 million) in revenue.
