Vietnam opens press center for 14th National Party Congress
Nearly 80 foreign journalists and media assistants from 43 international news agencies, overseas Vietnamese reporters and journalists from foreign political parties have registered, compared to 66 international journalists at the previous congress.
THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam on January 14 officially inaugurated the Press Center for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, marking one of the first major activities ahead of the congress.
The Press Center is designed to support large-scale, high-intensity media operations, featuring high-speed internet, more than 150 laptops and desktop computers, 10 printers, two fax machines and 10 large-screen televisions, ensuring optimal working conditions for journalists covering the event.
As of January 14, a total of 597 journalists and technicians from 113 domestic media outlets have registered to cover the event, up from 498 at the 13th National Party Congress.
In addition, 79 foreign journalists and media assistants from 43 international news agencies, overseas Vietnamese reporters and journalists from foreign political parties have registered, compared to 66 international journalists at the previous congress.
Speaking at the opening press conference, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu praised the dedication and professionalism of domestic and international journalists in covering the 14th National Party Congress.

He stressed that communication and information work related to the congress had been launched early and implemented under a clear, well-structured plan, guided by the principles of openness, transparency, democracy and objectivity.
The coverage, he said, has accurately reflected the Party’s determination and the aspirations of officials, Party members and the people, creating strong highlights and positive impressions that help reinforce public confidence in the congress.
"Such efforts have also contributed to strengthening unity within the Party and building social consensus, encouraging collective action toward the country’s development goals," said Tu.
He requested the Press Center to provide the most favorable conditions in terms of infrastructure, technical facilities, information access and professional coordination, enabling both domestic and foreign journalists to carry out effective coverage and generate wide-reaching impact for the Congress.
The Press Center has worked closely with relevant bodies to facilitate reporting activities, particularly for national key media outlets such as Vietnam Television (VTV), Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Nhan Dan Newspaper.
These agencies will provide clean television and radio signals, official photos and coordinated press arrangements to ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive coverage of the congress.
According to Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Publicity, Education and Mass Mobilization Lai Xuan Mon, media coverage of the 14th National Party Congress has been rolled out widely and in a coordinated manner, generating strong public engagement.
Mon, who is also Director of the Press Center, said the press agencies have highlighted achievements of the 13th Party Congress term, the country’s progress after nearly 40 years of renewal, key Politburo resolutions reflecting renewed thinking and strategic vision and positive assessments from the international community on Vietnam’s development under Party leadership.
